sbst275 SG Yes Yeah, saw 1 group of them... 6 of them together waiting for each other at the beach They're really shy
Rhonda SG The penguins are really cute! They return to their homes with a dogged determination. Every night, it takes them a while to be convinced that it's safe to get out of the waters before they start their sporadic parade, but once they do, they're quite fast! You can see the different characters of the penguins - from the scaredy cats to the indecisive ones to the leaders!
ShrodingersCat SG heyy rhonda... are u .. already back in Singapore? I am wondering if u can help me to buy a DVD from australia... they dont seem to sell it here..
Rhonda SG I think all the penguins there suffer from STML (Short-Term Memory Loss) because EVERY FREAKIN' NIGHT, they do the same walk up the same beach and face the same crowds and yet, EVERY FREAKIN' NIGHT, they will do the same hesitation ritual! Can't blame them... brain cavity too small.
Rhonda SG honeymouse said the other day that Australia DVD's are PAL whereas Singapore ones are NTSC. I didn't know that so when I went home to check, she's right - it's the PAL format here. Not sure if you'd be able to play the DVD's from here. It's regional code 4 here as well.
sbst275 SG Now I know what the water restriction means - No washing of car - No watering of plants - No bathing using tubs or spa at home
ShrodingersCat SG ooh.. shucks.. no worries then.. i jus wanna get a copy of priscilla queen of the desert... mebbe order from amazon.. they shd have different 'versions' hopefullY!
Rhonda SG Sad but true. I mean, look at our resident Polar Bear here... whole day for the past few years keep talking about Mrs Bear but never did anything concrete towards that goal, so have lost a few productive years, never reproduce baby polar bears to help sustain the population. How not to face extinction?! Anyways, seriously speaking, they are losing their habitat too fast because the climatic changes have resulted in the ice caps melting faster and earlier than before. These poor bears have to swim longer distances out into the sea to catch their prey, and most of them end up too tired to swim back to the ice caps, so they drown. It's not just their habitat that's fast disappearing... their sources of food are getting depleted too!
Rhonda SG ALAMAK!! Sorry, sbst! I was talking about the salah kinda bear! Yeah, the koalas are facing extinction. Every year, huge forest fires wipe out large numbers of them cause they are too slow to escape the fires. There was a koala shelter set up this year to rescue the chao-dar aka burnt koalas. It was like a Koala Burns Ward. The poor buggers looked so sorry with singed fur and bandaged paws and all. Too bad the Koala Hospital is too far away otherwise I'd love to volunteer there too.
Rhonda SG It depends on which stage of water restrictions you're talking about. Whoever said 'no watering of plants'? You can water, but with restrictions on which days, and how you water them. We're at Stage 3A now. I think once we reach Stage 4, then sorry, the gardens will not be watered at all.
tare SG yup the penguins are so cute!!!!! tho i almost freeze to death while waiting for them to DECIDE they should GO home! some are like ushers... stand mid way and "yep" the others to move along... some reach "home" liao, stand at the "door" and say bye bye to the rest...
Rhonda SG I can't help it! When it comes to the Bear, I have this irresistable urge to throw punches! I wonder why?
Rhonda SG Yeah, they're very cute! And they have such different characters! If they could speak, it would be comical to hear what they're saying! "Ah ma!! Faster! Walk faster! I want to get out of my wet suit!" "Zhe bian! Zhou Zhe Bian, bu shi na bian!" "Should I head home? I don't really wanna face my wife! And I've left my mistress back at sea!"
